EVERYONE is invited to attend First Friday in Downtown York, presented by WellSpan Health!
First Friday is a celebration of Downtown shops, restaurants, cultural venues, and nightlife hotspots. From 5:00PM – 9:00PM, downtown shops and restaurants host special events, offer refreshments & promotions, and sponsor live entertainment.
First Friday Activities in the Market District:
The Shops of the Market District will be partnering with Strathmeyer Trees, Uptown Rotary, The Elks Lodge, Downtown Inc, and the STEAM Academy for our first Market District Tree Project. We will have live Christmas trees lining the Market District beginning December First Friday. Each business will also be giving away a gift certificate to a military family for a Strathmeyer Christmas Tree.
Uptown Rotary & The Elks Lodge will be collecting scarves, hats, and gloves to be donated to the STEAM Academy. We will also have a group of live carollers from Trinity UCC traveling & singing around downtown.
Appell Center for the Performing Arts (50 North George Street)
Whether you are a fan of Jazz music or love music of all kinds don’t miss an opportunity to witness the upcoming Jazz music series at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts.
Under the artistic direction of Jeff Stabley, Jazz in the City will welcome regional musicians each month during First Friday festivities from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Studio at the Appell Center for the Performing Arts. December’s line up will include Tony Micelli on the vibraphone, J.J. Wiggins on the bass, and Jeff Stabley on the drums.
Elks Lodge #213 – York, PA (223 North George Street)
The Don Johnson Project will be playing Funky Blues, Motown, and much more for First Friday. This band will have you out of your chair and dancing! If you like Hendrix, Otis, and BB King, you will love this band. $10 per person. Ring the buzzer at the front door to be admitted. Come early for dinner and stay for the music and dancing! Third Annual Cookie Walk – St. John Episcopal Church, 140 North Beaver Street, York, will hold its third annual Cookie Walk in conjunction with First Friday in downtown York on Friday, December 1, 2017, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM. Attendees pick a box or boxes (several sizes/prices to choose from), walk among trays of assorted homemade cookies, and select which ones they care to purchase.
Proceeds from the event go to the St. John Episcopal Church Building Fund.

First Friday Activities in the Royal Square District:
Since the Continental Square Christmas Tree is being lit Saturday, join all of the Royal Square businesses on First Friday’s Light Up Night as we light our lovely lights at each building. The lighting itself will happen at 6 p.m. SHARP.
